This year the service has improved. I don't think it's so much having to do with mgmt as it is a function of which high school girls happen to have the job that particular. The food was improved. Decent crab cakes and one of the better looking lobster rolls I've seen lately -- big, generous chunks. Blackened fish tacos also executed well. Always a nice view and serene setting.

The location is great and the food is really good as well. If the service here was any good, it would easily have 4 stars but this is a miserable fail. Staff are slow and disorganized, just as they are at their other location at the Newcastle Pub in Newcastle, Maine. I really hope they address this as it has been a long-standing problem at both restaurants and really detracts from the experience. Please note that some of the staff are excellent and professional, but you never know who you are going to get. Allocate plenty of time for dinner and expect that some dishes may be cold!

Its been fun and many thanks to everyone but we are not renewing our lease for the 2011 season. The season is just too short for the operating expense. Look for our new wood-fired pizza concept in the fishing village of Cortez, Florida & hopefully a Maine expansion next summer...or......maybe a fish taaco & PBR stand! Many thanks again .... Visited today as a party of six including two grandchildren six and nine for lunch and found the food and service to be very good. We were greeted by the hostess who brought us to our table by the window overlooking Christmas Cove. Our server took our drink order quickly and returned with them promptly. The food was fresh, very well prepared and served hot. Our server checked to see how everything was shortly after delivering our food. We look forward to returning again soon.

I've been going to the Coveside forever. The view and the drinks always bring me back, but this year they brought in the menu from The Public House in Newcastle and they have now become a great food place too. A drink on the deck in the sunshine is worthy of a special day. Dogs welcome on the deck!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Fresh seafood, and pretty fine dining wtih a casual atmosphere (hey, its Maine after all). Deck seating is great for people/boat/bird watching. Coveside is a marina as well as a restaurant, so they have a pretty impressive niche in quaint Christmas Cove. Have been a couple times and have been thoroughly impressed with the Lobster Roll, Shrimp Po'boy, and most importantly, some of the best fish taco's I've ever had. Bonus points : they are dog friendly on the deck.

I'm giving this place 4-stars, most notably to spite my friends. Jess is most likely only remembering her first Dark n' Stormy, or whatever concoction she last drank there. She's crazy. Peter is a foodie, so I'll give him that... but his review is also tainted by the affects of alcohol (it was a long day). The food is really good, but the best fish taco ever? Really? That's a bold statement. I will concede that this place has the best view (you're sitting over the water), the best staff (I might be bias), the best dock space, and the best food within a 30 minute car ride. Who am I kidding, I eat at Coveside more often than I do at home when I'm in So. Bris.

For years Coveside has been the place to go in Christmas Cove and the food has been standard coastal Maine, but good. We went last week and the portions were really meagre and the prices high for what we got. Fish taco: two small strips of tuna and french fries. Fruit pie: $8.00 for a small portion that they bring around on a plate with other selections. There is a new chef who needs help in the kitchen and help with presentation. No chance of going there. No sense of style, no abundance, nothing juicy or delectable on the plate. The waitress was apologetic and nice. Stay on the deck or in the bar and drink.

The marina offers a beautiful and sheltered deep-water cove to grab a mooring. We sailed in and took our dinghy over to the Coveside restaurant dock, intending to grab a quick lunch and beer. Hours later, we were enjoying the jazz trio in the bar and hadn't moved an inch. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating and the food was beyond delicious, while not overpriced. Take a minute to stroll around the bar and check out the collection of burgees--some date back to the 70s and are barely held together by threads. Highly recommended!

This review is for the bar at Coveside. I've never eaten in the restaurant, although many of my relatives have, and they all say it's excellent. This is one of the coziest bars ever. Deck seating lets you take in the boats, and catch the breeze off the water. I've had many a chilly summer night taking in the stars and a few beers on the deck. The decor of the bar couldn't be any cooler, with all the old tattered flags... and it's a fairly small space so that makes it all the cozier. I recommend the Pemiquid Ale (tap only) by Sheepscot Valley Brewing, a great local brew.

Well the location is amazing. South bristol is beautiful and the Marina is picturesque at sunset. As for the restaurant...here was my family experience. We arrived for early dinner and requested a table on the deck overlooking the marina. There were 4 empty tables but the Hostess tried to discourage us by suggesting those tables were reserved an hour later on the evening. I assured here we would be done within the hour and she reluctantly seated us. There we waited for no less than 5 minutes for a server to come to the table so I went inside to ask for a waiter. That is where I found at least 6-7 staff chatting by the hostess stand. I asked for a waitress and eventually someone came to take our order. Remembering my promise to finish dinner within an hour, we ordered all at once. The food came out pretty quickly but was cafeteria quality at best. I handed our server my credit card to pay and sre returned with a bill that included items we didn't order, double charged (2 of each) entrees and an overall bill 70% higher than the actual cost of the meal. I brought the bill back inside to resolve the issue. The server was kind enough to redo the bill and rerun my credit card for the actual amount. She assured me all was in order and I added the standard 20% gratuity despite the quality of the food. Unfortunately for me, the Coveside never credited the original padded bill but did, however, include the second bill now grifting me for 170% of the original night out with the family. Shame on you Coveside. Vacationers avoid this place if you don't want to be taken advantage of while on vacation.
